About Jack Logan

Jack Logan is a fictional character, an investigator and documentary filmmaker. He knows that the official version of an event is often self-serving spin or outright lies. Sorting through the misdirection is a challenge and his special calling.

Jack is not a cop, but he is after justice. He is not a spy, but he watches and observes. He recruits whistle-blowers. He hides, waiting for the opportunity to secretly record the truth that powerful people will only admit in private. He breaks the law because sometimes you have to commit a crime to catch a criminal. From missing persons, financial crimes, and murder to scandals with oddly convenient villains, Jack pursues the moments when the prevailing narrative proclaims one thing, but the evidence says something else. Those are the fractures where truth is waiting to be found—along with danger.

Jack is not alone in his pursuits. His wife, Maria Logan, is a federal prosecutor with an important mandate: find people who are abusing surveillance data. The job gives her access to texts and emails and phone conversations – secrets that some people would kill to obtain.

In Enemy of the People, Jack is helped by many characters —

• Alex Canfield is the Executive Producer of Reality Check, a popular news program where Jack helps tell stories that powerful people would prefer stay hidden.

• Ruben Abuela is Jack’s friend and lawyer defending a man falsely accused of killing his own daughter.

• Richard North, Jack’s colleague at Reality Check, is threatened with violence and then brutally attacked.

• Martin Zinn is an award-winning journalist who comes across information that is dangerous to have.

• Crybaby is a teenage hacker who becomes a target of some dangerous people who are willing to kill to keep the truth hidden.

• Ramona Vega is a Mexican drug cartel assassin known as Tex-Mex. Her true identity and gender is a secret. She decides that her martial arts skills should be used for good, not evil.

• Detective Henry (Train) is a Myrtle Beach police detective who hates the news media.
