In Enemy of the People, violence is aimed at journalists. Does this happen in the real world? Are journalists at risk? From Luke Irons .... Of course we don't want a post-truth world. We want the truth to be told in the news media. Reasonable people desire a news media that provides knowledge that the public should have. We use this knowledge to make decisions, such as who to vote for. Insofar as news media organizations have lowered their standards and provide a forum for lies to be disseminated, knowledge for the public becomes elusive. It's hard to know what to believe.

The liars seem to mostly get away with it, don't they? When caught in a lie, they simply repeat the lie and blame the media. In Enemy of the People, one of the steps taken by our protagonists is to actively expose liars. And punish them. Jack Logan and others are fighting to make our leaders afraid to lie rather than afraid to tell the truth. The liars should be called out. Jack believes the liars should be strongly ridiculed and their access to the forum denied. I agree with Jack.
